Call for papers on Family Law for the 2013 Society of Legal Scholars Annual Conference.


The 2013 Annual Conference of the Society of Legal Scholars will take place at the University of Edinburgh from Tuesday 3rd – Friday 6th September 2013. The four sessions of the Family Law Subject Section are scheduled for section B of the conference taking place on Thursday 5th and Friday 6th September, times TBC.

The conference theme is ‘Britain and Ireland in Europe: Europe in Britain and Ireland’. However, papers on all aspects of family law are welcomed.

Proposals for papers, posters, topics or any queries about the Family Law section should be sent to maebh.harding@port.ac.uk by 4th March. When submitting your proposal for a paper, please send your title, an abstract, and a 2-3 line summary of the paper. Papers will usually be allotted up to 20-30 minutes, allowing discussion time.Please note that speakers will be required to submit an abstract to the Paperbank by the end of July;

The SLS offers a prize for the best paper given at the conference. In order to be eligible, the paper must be submitted to the paper bank by 5pm Monday 26th September and be no longer than 10,000 words, inclusive of references. Papers should not already be published or under consideration for publication.

Potential speakers are reminded that they will still need to book and pay for attendance at the conference. In addition, could anyone who is offering a paper in more than one subject section make sure that the convenors of each section are aware of this, so that we can liaise about scheduling. We look forward to seeing many of you in September.
