Call for papers on Labour Law for the 2013 Society of Legal Scholars Annual Conference.

Dear colleagues,

I am delighted to issue a Call for Papers on Labour Law at the Society of Legal Scholars Annual Conference 2013, to be held at the University of Edinburgh in September. Papers on Labour Law will be hosted within Section B in the second half of the conference on Thursday 5th and Friday 6th September 2013. We plan to have 4 sessions devoted to the subject. The theme for this year?s Edinburgh Conference is ?Britain in Europe: Europe in Britain?. I would welcome papers on any topic relating to Labour Law. Members may wish to consider addressing this year?s conference theme, however, this is not compulsory.

If you are interested in participating, please send your expressions of interest, including title and a few lines/abstract (up to 300 words) to my email address by 4 March 2013. Submissions are welcomed from established academics and junior researchers alike. I would mention that the convenor of the Company Law subject section and I have discussed the potential for joint sessions where a paper submitted straddles both Labour Law and Company Law. If you think that your paper would benefit from such a joint session, please indicate this in your email.

I am happy to confirm that Professor Douglas Brodie, University of Stirling, has agreed to present a paper at the Labour Law subject section. Professor Brodie will give a presentation on the law of the contract of employment.

If your paper is accepted, you are required to submit your abstract to the Edinburgh Conference Paperbank by the end of July. Speakers are strongly encouraged to submit a written paper to the same Paperbank. If you are interested in submitting your written paper for entry to the Best Paper Prize, please consult the entry criteria available on the SLS website.

Please be kind enough to let me know whether you have offered a paper in another section to avoid clashes in the programme later down the line. I have been asked to remind you that speakers should register and pay the admission fee for the Edinburgh Conference in the normal way.

I look forward to hearing from you.

With best wishes,

David Cabrelli SLS Labour Law Subject Section Convenor Senior Lecturer in Law University of Edinburgh"
