SLS Annual Conference 2013: Criminal Justice Section Call for Papers
Dear colleague, It is a pleasure to invite contributions to the SLS Annual Conference, which will take place in Edinburgh this year. The theme of the conference is “Britain and Ireland in Europe: Europe in Britain and Ireland” (for further details see, http://www1.legalscholars.ac.uk). The Criminal Justice Section will meet on Tuesday 3rd September and Wednesday 4th September 2013. The Section welcomes papers on the theme of the conference, in addition to any aspects of Criminal Justice. Given that the Law Commission intends to commence a review into Offences Against the Person in late 2013 and in light of the Commission’s ongoing review of hate crimes, the section particularly encourages contributions on these topic areas. These sessions are supportive, informative and constructive, and contributions from research students, and early career academics as well as senior colleagues are welcomed.
If you are interested in submitting a paper, please forward your title and an initial abstract (200-300 words) to Nicola Wake (email@example.com) by the 4th March 2013 for consideration.
If your paper is accepted, you will be required to submit a final version of your abstract to the Paperbank by 31st July 2013 (firstname.lastname@example.org). Speakers are also encouraged to submit a written paper to the Paperbank in order to be considered for the Best Paper Prize; the entry conditions for which are available via the SLS website. Booking for the conference opens in May. I have been asked to remind speakers that they are required to book and pay for the conference in the normal way. For those speakers offering papers to more than one section please let me know so that we may avoid clashes in the conference programme; this does not mean that you will not be able to submit more than one paper.
I look forward to hearing from you.
With Best Wishes, Nicola Wake
SLS Criminal Justice Section Convenor
